Preparing your team for a fixed asset register audit visit

Team collaborating around a table with notebooks

A smooth verification day is mostly logistics. The register work happens weeks earlier; the visit itself depends on escorts, access, and honest exception logging.

Two weeks out

Share the register extract at the agreed cut-off date, a site map with building codes, safety induction requirements, and a list of locked areas. Tell us about night-shift equipment that will be powered down only at certain hours.

One week out

Confirm escorts for each building. Brief custodians that the goal is an accurate register, not a hunt for blame. Ask them to note known relocations so we do not burn time rediscovering moves everyone already knows about.

On the day

Provide a quiet room for exception write-ups, power for laptops, and a finance contact reachable by phone. End-of-day debriefs catch misunderstandings while memories are fresh — especially when a “missing” asset turns out to be on loan to a sister plant in another city.
